In Regards to, a title two weapon, registered to me on form 3 dated April 10, 1986



Manufactured by American Research & Development Co., Salt Lake City, Utah



A180 Machine Gun, Serial #ARB0161



In compliance with a request from ATF Salt Lake City, the above registered title

two weapon was today surrendered on demand, to ATF agent Mr. Jack Malooley of

ATF Chicago Branch. Agent Malooley gave the following reason as to why he required

that I surrender the weapon into his custody. After examining the receiver, he

stated that "The receiver had been 'milled' and that the serial # and other

identification markings were 'recessed', therefore, this particular firearms was

regarded by ATF Salt Lake City, Utah, as evidence in their proceeding involving

American Research Company, Salt Lake City, Utah."



I regard this firearm still to be my property, as it was legally purchased and

transferred to me, and has not in any way been used in any illegal activity.

I expect it to be handled with care, and to not be damaged. At the time of

surrender, it had attached to the receiver, a 16 inch removable barrel, inscribed

as follows: Serial #A00856, American International Corp., S.L.C. utah U.S.A.

This barrel was also surrendered to agent Malooley. The condition of this weapon

is Mint, without any blemish. I expect it to be returned as such. It has a fair

market value of $2,500. I request it to be returned to me without delay, once its'

use as evidence is satisfied.



I would like this letter to be placed by NFA in my file for future reference,

and I would appreciate a response to this letter, acknowledging its content and

indicating when I might expect return of my property. Surrendering this

weapon does not imply any admission of any wrong doing, but only implies my

willingness to aid ATF in their investigations.
